My sister’s wedding is coming up and I was on the hunt for a dress for her wedding. She wanted us to wear the color teal and let me tell you it is not easy to find anything in teal. I went to stores in my local mall, looked online and nothing. So as a last resort I checked out Gwynnie Bee. Since they have a 30 day free trail I figure I give it a try.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Gwynnie Bee. Many YouTubers, who I watched loves it, but most of them are sponsored by Gwynnie Bee. Even though I truly trust their reviews and opinions I never really felt like I wanted to try Gwynnie Bee out for myself. It was never something I felt like I needed to try.

You might be thinking “why am I talking about Gwynnie Bee when I myself was not really interested in it?” Well, because I wanted to share my opinions and honest thoughts about it. As someone who is in between sizes and already has a hard enough time finding clothes I wanted to see if Gwynniee Bee will work for me. Plus if I didn’t have to pay for my dress then that would be awesome because lets face it who wants to buy a dress you may only wear once.

What is Gwynnie Bee?

If you don’t know, Gwynnie Bee is a monthly subscription service where you pay to rent clothes. There are different prices for the amount of garments you can rent out at a time ranging from 1 piece of garment to 10. You can switch out as many garments as you can within the month. So if you have the 1 piece you can get more than 1 piece a month but only one at a time.  Hopefully that is not too confusing.

Anyway, with that out of the way let’s get to this.

My First Experience

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I found a dress on there that I liked so I ended up subscribing to it. For the free thirty day trial you get two piece at a time. I needed a minimum of seven garments before they will send me my first box so of course I started adding things to my closet*.

*A closet is where to put your clothes so when you send ones back they choose from your “closet”*

Gywnnie Bee has a button where you can prioritized certain pieces so of course I prioritized that dress hoping I would get it first. A couple days later when my first box was sent I went to see which pieces was sent and none of the two were the teal dress. I was a little disappointed that I did not received the dress I prioritized, but there was nothing much I could do. I still wanted to give Gwynnie Bee a try.

I got this dress in an XL and let me tell you it was way too big on me. It was baggy and made me look frumpy and not cute at all. I wanted it to work so much but it was just not cutting it. I ended up belting the dress which made me like it a little bit more but not enough.

I have a boxy body shape and the dress just doesn’t give me a shape since there is nothing to define my waist.

Melissa McCarthy Seven7 Tibet Stamp Kimono Maxi Dress 

This dress was a total surprised to me. I was surprised at how much I really like it on me. The print and styles is a lot more mature then what I would usually wear but when I had it on I really love how it looks. I still think it’s more for someone who is older than me but I did not hate it.

It fits which I am really happy to see and the dress was not too long on me. With me being 5’1 maxi dress tends to be a little too long on me and this dress was just the right length.

Final Thoughts

My thoughts on Gwynnie Bee so far is that it was ok but I like it. I will keep on trying for the thirty day trial and form a more complete opinion at the end. I was a little disappointed about not getting the teal dress I wanted but in the end I found another dress. So in the end I guess everything turned out good.

For my first two dresses I like one while the other did not work for me at all. I plan on trying more clothes from brands I will probably never by from and get to know a little more about sizing. I will keep trying out Gwynnie Bee for the rest of the thirty day trial and give you guys my final thoughts in the end.
